Back out for day 2 of a Lowland Leader Training on behalf of Andy Holborn for the Quantock and Mendip AONB volunteers today but this time around the Quantock Hills. It is the 80th anniversary of Trig Points (or so I thought but it turns out that it was actually yesterday) so we thought we should probably go to the one 400m from the carpark before we did anything else. A mixture of woods and more open ground on nice big tracks or smaller muddy trails. We saw all kinds of bird life today including Stone Chats and Sky Larks and loads of tadpoles in a puddle
This group are going to be out and about soon offering guided walks in their respective areas and their local knowledge is really good so watch out for this service starting.
It is great to see the places you can get to within the scope of the Lowland Leader . We were always only a few km from access and plenty of paths and tracks to choose from yet were able to get great views over the Severn estuary.
