The Overland Event

This weekend I have been at The Overland Event in Oxfordshire. This is a weekend gathering for Adventure Motorcyclists interested in overland travel. There was a large variety of speakers and a number of manufacturers present which made for a good informative weekend. Even the wet weather didn't cause a problem as there was plenty of cover available.

I grabbed the chance to test drive the Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx (low seat version). Yep, Triumph are making a full size adventure bike for short people :-) This is the first 1200cc bike I have ever been able to get both feet down.

Pre-Season Paddlesport Training

Out on the canal today with a couple of members of Bridgwater College staff for some pre-season rescue training. It is always good to get this in at the start of term before we get any students. Nice weather and a pub lunch always makes these things even more pleasant.

River Exe Canoeing

I should have been out on the sea today but conditions were due to be a bit too tasty for the planned work so I paddled the Exeter Canal Loops with Leon, Hannah and Heidi. Good to get my sail out heading down the river and then a paddle into a small headwind back up the canal (after coffee and cake at the cafe). A spot of shopping in AS Watersports completed the day.

Quantock Mountain Biking

Out and about on The Quantock Hills today with Tyne for a spot of biking. It was a hot day which made the uphill grinds that bit harder. A mix of fire tracks and technical trails before the main event of the day, lunch!

Teignmouth Sea Kayaking

A relaxed and sunny paddle today out of Teignmouth with Hannah, Heidi and Jo. The sun shone, the water was warm (ish), the tides were good, the doughnuts were good. In fact, an all round good day out.

A month in Tanzania

I am back from a month of working in Tanzania for True Adventure.

A mix of Project work at a village called Tegetero in the Uluguru Mountains, a Trek in the same area, a Safrai in Mikumi National Park and Diving on Zanzibar.
