The marker took a battering a few days ago Today Olly and I took open boats onto the Loop section of The River Dart. As this is such a short section we continued down to Buckfastleigh.  Good water levels and no swims made for a great day out.

Today I was at The Barn assisting with the second day of the Climbing Wall Award. It was all about movement skills and group management today.

As I suddenly became free this week (Scottish Winter not yet worth driving up for), I joined Andy Holborn to help out on one of his Climbing Wall Award training courses. Today we were at Dart Rock

      Today all the Adventure Students were out at Alder Lake revisiting 2 Star skills in multiple craft including capsizing and rescue skills. Well done to the those that passed and the others will pass shortly.

  The new clutch of Mountain Training Coaching Awards are live and wanting to get in early on these new awards, I attended the Foundation Coach training course run by Paul Smith  at the Life Centre in Plymouth. A mix of theory and practical throughout the day kept things moving. Most of the day was a refresher rather than anything new but I am looking forward to the Development Coach training course which I hope to do next year. Photos courtesy of Paul Smith

At Sheep's Tor today on the west of Dartmoor. Yesterday was spent going up (climbing) and today was mainly spent going down (abseiling). We looked at releasable and personal abseil skills, gear placement and had a small amount of top roping once the crag had dried out.

Today I was out running the first day of an SPA Training courses at The Dewerstone. Once darkness arrived we relocated to the Life Centre Climbing wall for the evening session.

This weekend was the AMI , MTA and BAIML South West CPD weekend held at Rock and Rapid in South Molton. Workshops included; Climbing for All, FUNdamentals, Teaching Leading, Coaching Strategies, Tech Advisor and NICAS, Moorland Environment, Ropework Rescues and on Saturday night I ran a Night Nav workshop. Thanks to all the workshop providers and those who attended.
