Day 1 of a Rock Climbing Instructor Assessment based at Dart Rock for the morning and Chudleigh for the afternoon. 3 candidates on the course and we spent the day looking at Personal Climbing and Group Management both indoors and out. Working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd who are providers of a large number of Mountain Training courses.

Today I have been at Dart Rock and Chuleigh Rocks directing the first day of a Mountain Training Rock Climbing Instructor Assessment. We managed to stay inside from the worst of the weather before dodging showers later. The evening was spent running a navigation refresher on Dartmoor for a client with a pending Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment.

Another day at Dart Rock today for my second Rock Climbing Instructor Training course this month. Only a small course of 2 due to an injury but as always, Jamie was around and keen to help out to make up numbers. Some personal climbing and lots of ideas how to manage groups indoors were the topics of the day.

Today I was working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd directing the first day of a Rock Climbing Instructor Training course with 4 candidates. We were based at Dart Rock for the indoor element of the award. Lots done today (even with on eye on the sun outside). Warms up, personal climbing, holding falls, group climbing, bouldering, games and much more.

A much drier day on Dartmoor today for the third and final day of the Hill and Moorland Leader Training course I am directing for Wet and High Adventures Ltd . Great to be able to enjoy the view of Dartmoor at last. Again, the evening was spent at Dart Rock running an Indoor Climbing Assistant course.

Today was the second day of a Mountain Training Rock Climbing Instructor Assessment that I am directing for Wet and High Adventures on Dartmoor. We started at Dart Rock in the warm and dry for some climbing, belaying, bouldering and problem solving before heading to The Dewerstone where it was very wet (and my camera stayed in my pocket) for some abseiling skills.

Out at Haytor today working with a group from Hamp Estate in Bridgwater. Unfortunately rain stopped play by midday and we ran to the shelter of Dart Rock where it was warmer and drier. All 5 young people managed to climb and belay and learnt to put on their own harnesses and tie themselves in. At the end of the session they even had a little trip through the Dart Rock cave system. On day 3 of the residential, we headed to Dart Rock to avoid the rain for a morning of climbing before jumping in the River Plym for a gorge walk in the afternoon. Some excellent teamwork shown by the group as the river was slowly rising and on the last waterfall really had a fair bit of power.

Quick, think of a Plan B! I was supposed to be out at Haytor today with the girls from Abbey School assisting with their annual climbing trip. Unfortunately the weather was not interested in playing ball so it was off to Dart Rock for an afternoon of bouldering, top roping, lead climbing and eating cake.

Out on Dartmoor today for the second day of the Single Pitch Award Assessment I am running for Wet and High Adventures . We were based at Hound Tor today with lots of abseiling, climbing and problem solving. The day ended at Dart Rock climbing wall for some indoor work, coffee and cake.

At Chudleigh (South) in the sun today directing a Single Pitch Award assessment for Wet and High Adventures . A day of lead climbing and some bottom roping on somewhat polished limestone. The day just got warmer and warmer so was down to t-shirts by the end. A session at Dart Rock  climbing wall finished of the day nicely.
