NNAS Gold Training

This weekend I have been on a very wet Dartmoor running a Gold NNAS Training course for two keen candidates who despite the weather and wet pants, were able to concentrate long enough to get through the syllabus. This is the top level personal navigation award and they will now need to go away to consolidate before presenting themselves for a one day assessment. Lets hop it is a drier day for them when they come back.

Today I was on a very hot and sunny Dartmoor running a NNAS Gold assessment for two candidates who coped well in the heat. The Gold level is the top award in the scheme and requires a very high level of competence. I was working for Wet and High Adventures today who offer all levels of the NNAS awards. I thought this cow had a pretty cool face hence the photo.

 Team Awesome  Team AwesomeR On Wednesday night I left the New Forest and headed home for a night in a bed before leaving at 6 am to be down on Dartmoor for 8 on Thursday to work with Farmors School and the 2 groups going for Gold DofE qualifying expedition across the moor. Thursday was the shake down day and I was out with the 5 members of Team Awesome running a quick navigation refresher  as it had been a while since their practice. It rained hard that day. On Friday, Team Awesome and Team AwesomeR headed out onto the moor for the expedition and I started the usual remote supervision/assessment work of driving between car parks and running about the moor for 4 days to see how both teams were getting on. I am pleased to report that all 11 participants completed and passed the expedition phase. Whilst we had some pretty poor weather during the expedition including some thunder we did not suffer as badly as other areas. I was very sad to he...
