Coasteer and SUP at Anstey's Cove

Image
This morning I was down at one of my favourite locations, Anstey's Cove working a Coasteering session with a group of Explorer Scouts for Somerset Adventures. After work (ie midday ish) there was time for a splash about on SUPs with Robin and Ben although probably more time was sent in the water than on the boards!

Super Hot Silver DofE

Image
This sums up my last three days. I have been on Dartmoor assessing a Silver DofE group as they moved from one shady spot to another via a few km of relentless sun.  Super early starts and sensible decision making to reduce the time spent in the direct sunlight as most of the shade spots already taken by sheep, cows or horses. DofE expeditions are meant to be challenging but this one was another level. Big effort from my team to successfully complete and I am sure the same for any other team out over the last few days (at least 10 I know of)

Lowland Leader Assessment

Image
Sometimes (not very often) I get to work close to home. This weekend I was directing a Lowland Leader Assessment on The Quantock Hills and Somerset Coast. Super hot 2 days with loads of information shared with the candidates. I love it when I am assessing and learn something new. Passes all round. Well Done

Gold DofE

I stayed up in Snowdonia to work on a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition for Churchill Academy. 5 groups out walking through the national park (3 practice and 2 assessed) whilst I was doing some remote supervision, checkpointing and sitting in the rain.

Mountain Leader Courses

Image
This week I have been in Snowdonia directing a Mountain Leader Training Course for Wet and High Adventures Ltd. There was also an assessment running so I worked one day of that as well. 6 candidates and lots of smiles carried us through a week of mixed weather. Now they all get to go off to fill up their logbooks with more days.
