Out at Goblin Combe with Steph and Justin who wanted to have an introduction to climbing and setting up ropes. A damp day interspersed with Easyjet flights going over us but lots of ropework, belay building and getting comfortable with climbing calls covered so we can have some multi-pitch fun tomorrow.

A day out in the sun at Goblin Combe with Outdoor Education students from Bridgwater and Taunton College today looking at Top Roping and belaying. Only a small group of 5 so plenty of time for each student to climb. We finished by looking at how the ropes were set and and discussing different anchors.

Back at Goblin Combe today with my Level 3 Outdoor Students from Bridgwater and Taunton College . We spent most of the day being eaten by midges but with some climbing in between. I have never seen it so bad there! Anyway, lots of climbing done and the students getting confident at belaying and tying themselves in.

Out at Goblin Combe Car Park crag today with my L4 Public Services students from Bridgwater and Taunton College. The aim of the day was to learn how to set up climbs. We used trees, boulders, stakes, rock gear, slings and static ropes and then discussed the pro and cons of each. We even had time to climb and it was the first time they had ever climbed on routes they had picked and set up on. A few lessons were learnt on route choice as well.
