This weekend I have been on a very wet Dartmoor running a Gold NNAS Training course for two keen candidates who despite the weather and wet pants, were able to concentrate long enough to get through the syllabus. This is the top level personal navigation award and they will now need to go away to consolidate before presenting themselves for a one day assessment. Lets hop it is a drier day for them when they come back.

Out at Cannington Activity Centre today working with staff on the newly refurbished High Ropes Course to make sure they are all up to speed with the new elements. We also had a group in on low ropes so I was able to observe some staff delivery in action. Somewhat cold at times but with plenty of coffee breaks a great day all round .

Yesterday and today I was on the Mountain Training Development Coach Award Training at Aber Rocks with Paul Smith. Just the one picture I am afraid. Lots of coaching theory and practice covered.

Today I was out in the sun at Wellington School running some in house training for their outdoor climbing wall.  It was good to see a couple of familiar faces plus a few new staff during the day

  Today was the second day of the Hill Skills course on Dartmoor that we started last week . During a theory session the students had planned a route and today we walked it to let them show the skills that they learnt last week. Stunning weather, good visibility and low wind gave a nice day out on the moor

Today as the weather was looking a bit damp Dan and I took the FdSc Students to Dart Rock for some indoor climbing. Dan ran a bouldering class whilst I supervised the roped session (which the students managed themselves on) before we swapped over. As always the Dart Rock cake was up to a good standard and as we left it was raining so clearly a good decision made.

Yesterday I was working with a school in Northampton on their upcoming trip to Malawi/Zambia but today I was back at Cannington Activity Centre this morning assessing some new and old staff. Today I have been at Cannington Activity Centre assessing some of the staff in using the High Ropes Course. With both the morning and afternoon group we experienced some wind which made Jacobs Ladder and All Aboard much more challenging.

Well done to all 6 candidates who cruised the NBLQ assessment today at Brean. Thanks to Tim for assessing. Ed the dog needs some more training as he tends to lick casualties rather than perform CPR.

Another stunning day. The candidates had the usual morning pool swim before heading to the beach to play with different scenarios and rescues. The weather was so nice the beach session went on a bit longer than normal. Back in the classroom we covered all the final parts and had some CPR practice before tomorrows exam. Another stunning day on the beach, it is almost as if I booked the weather for us. Pool session then into the sea for some fitness and skills training. An afternoon of First Aid and a visit to another beach to look at the effects of piers and jetties on water movement finished off the day

After an early morning 30 degree pool session looking at towing and board work it was straight into the sea for the chilly real world experience. Well at least for the candidates, I was nice and warm on the beach. After lunch and some theory time we returned to the beach as it near low tide in order to look at just how much water moves in a given timescale
