3 Star White Water Kayak Assessments

Image
Out on The Barle from Tarr Steps to Dulverton today at reasonable levels conducting 3 Star White Water Kayak assessments for Wet and High Adventures Ltd . Well, more accurately mentoring Robin running one. 4 Candidates today and please to report all 4 passed. Following a good performance from Robin then I have also recommended he becomes a provider himself. Very bust on the river with some big groups (one was around 20) sharing the features.

Out on the Barle/Exe today from Dulverton to Exbridge with 5 clients for some White Water Training towards their 3 star assessment. Good levels on the rise and lots of skills covered today including some rolling and wet rescues at the end of the day before coffee in The Anchor Inn. I was working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd today.

Blast on The Barle

After yesterdays session on Wimbleball Lake, today Max and I jumped onto The Barle at Tarr Steps for some 1:1 White Water Kayak coaching working towards a 3 Star assessment. We looked at breaking in and out of the flow, ferry gliding, running rapids, surfing and a few other skills. I was working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd today. A nice level when we started but it seem to be dropping fairly quickly so not sure there will be much water left until the next rains.

Ballistic Barle so Windy at Wimbleball

Although aiming to get on The Barle today with 1 client for Wet and High Adventures Ltd , the river was very high for a 3 Star White Water training day (most other SW Rivers had done the same) so we headed to a windy  Wimbleball Lake where we looked at all the rescue parts of the syllabus and some stroke improvement work. Hope the river settles down for us tomorrow

White Water Kayak Coaching

Today I was out on The Lower Dart working for Wet and High Adventures coaching White Water Kayak skills. Kate, Hannah and Jo were the clients with Robin observing me work. It was a little low but we still managed to look at loads of skills and find rapids to coach on. Well done to Jo who passed her 3 Star assessment today and thanks to Robin for taking a swim or two for the rescue drills.

Back out on the Barle today working for Wet and High Adventures running a 3 star assessment. All 4 candidates put in a good performance and passed the award. We started at Tarr Steps and paddled to Dulverton. It was a bit low today and dropped whilst we were on it but we still found some Grade 2 rapids to run and for the candidates to demonstrate their skills. Well done Leon, Glyn, Dom and Chris
