What a day in the hills. Just awesome! Second day of Mountain Skills course and the sun was out, the wind low (but a tad chilly), clear air and amazing views as we did a circuit round Glyder Fawr and Y Gribin Working for Wet and High Adventures but defo not a wet day

Back out on the hills today but with a group on a Mountain Skills course that I am directing for Wet and High Adventures Ltd. After a few hours in the warm looking at weather forecasts and equipment, we headed out into Llanberis Pass and up to Llyn Glas to have a look at navigation, some plants and how to hide from the cold biting wind.

On the second day of the Mountain Skills course for Bridgwater and Taunton College students we were up on Aran Fawddwy enjoying the views across the valley. Lots covered today with Navigation being the main skill but with lots of other topics such as the flora and fauna (small frog pic 2).

With a forecast of a blue sky low wind day, it was North Ridge of Tryfan for the first day of Mountain Skills course from Bridgwater and Taunton College Outdoor Education students who are on a residential up in Snowdonia. Well what a day it turn out to be. As nice as forecast and the group enjoyed a day in the mountains. This is a first for some of the students and certainly the hardest climb for most of them. Working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd a provider of a large number of Mountain Training awards

Today for the second day of the Mountain Skills course I am directing for Wet and High Adventures we headed to the North Ridge of Tryfan to look at steep ground skills. We managed to reach the cannon which was just on the snowline before we turned back. Lots covered today and all pushed themselves outside their comfort zone at times. 4 very happy clients now planning their future adventures in the mountains. A bit of an admin evening now before starting a Mountain Leader course tomorrow.

Today I was directing the first day of a Mountain Skills course for Wet and High Adventures Ltd based in Snowdonia. After a few hours in the map room at Petes Eats we headed up into Llanberis Pass to look at navigation, walking skills, emergency procedures and some flora and fauna. We stayed below the cloud and freezing level and remained dry for the whole afternoon. Tomorrow forecast looks excellent and with 4 keen candidates we have planned a great day out.

Wednesday was the second day of the Mountain Skills course for the Bridgwater College students and what better way to test their learning but to head out on an overnight expedition to finish it all off. We walked out this morning for a cooked lunch waiting for us back at Glan Llyn

Directing Day 1 of a Mountain Training Mountain Skills course on behalf of Wet and High Adventures for Bridgwater College L3 Outdoor Education students.  We was able to get in an have some fun on the false Gribyn ridge before heading down into Idwal. The wind was picking us up nd blew us out of the cwm and down to the road. There was a lot of spray moving on both Llyn Idwal and Ogwen as the remains of the hurricane rolled in. A great day all in all.

This week I have been away in Snowdonia with Level 4 Public Services students from Bridgwater and Taunton College . A 2 day (very wet) Mountain Skills course, a day climbing at Tremadog and a second (very sunny day)day at Barmouth Slabs before a final day in the gorge at Afon Ddu. Only a small group of students but we got lots done and some practical assessments completed

On the second day of the Mountain Skills course for Bridgwater College students we went into Llanberis Pass to look at navigation, emergency procedures and environmental issues. The day ended with a visit to the Llanberis MRT who kindly showed us around and explained their call out procedure.

Today was the first day of the Mountain Skills course for the Bridgwater College students. We took on the north ridge of Tryfan looking at movement skills and route finding. The weather was not as wild as forecast so although we didn't necessarily expect to we did actually make the summit before a descent of the Heather Terrace.  All got suitably wet and saw first hand the importance of a layering system that we discussed yesterday evening in the theory session.
