This weekend I have been in a very wet and windy South Wales running a Hill and  Moorland Leader Training course for 5 candidates from Marauders Men's Health in Port Talbot. The weather was a constant battle but we were able to stay low and work around it using lesser know parts of the Brecon Beacons. Working for Adventures with Will

  Awesome weather day on Dartmoor (almost too hot) directing the first day of a Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment for Wet and High Adventures Ltd.

This morning I was conducting a Hill and Moorland Leader 1:1 reassessment for Wet and High Adventures on the South of Dartmoor.  This was followed by lunch with my sister (outside of course) and then the evening was a teaching navigation session on North Dartmoor Good to be out and about and pretty easy to socially distance on the moor.

The candidates were out with Mark yesterday for more wind and rain but today was a much nicer day (although some showers) and we were on the north moor near Meldon Reservior As always, navigation played a part of the day as did environmental knowledge, leadership skills and some incidents that I dreamed up along the way. A good effort from all candidates. Well done.

A dry start with a very wet finish for Day 1 of the Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment I am directing for Wet and High Adventures Ltd . Dartmoor delivered some challenging weather as we entered the evening and I was very relieved to get back in the car at 7pm somewhat damp around the edges.

After being in 2 groups for the previous days, we all joined together for the last day of the Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment course for some more navigation, leadership and scenario based exercises. It was mainly dry and even sunny towards the end as we navigated our way around some features south of Meldon Reservoir. Big effort put in by all the candidates over the last 3 days through some challenging weather. Well done.

The second day of the Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment I am directing for Wet and High Adventures Ltd was equally as wet as the first. Using a range of maps we explored the area of Ryder's Hill and enjoyed about 2 mins of sunshine in the whole day. Plenty of colour out on the moor and nice to see a Common Newt although a little confused as to why it hitched a lift on a rucksack.

Just got back in from the first day of a Hill and Moorland Leader Assessment on Dartmoor that I am directing for Wet and High Adventures Ltd . Wet, misty and eventually dark gave me plenty of opportunities to test the the candidates navigation ability.

Only been back in the UK for less than a day but I was out on Dartmoor with a client for Wet and High Adventures Ltd running a Hill and Moorland Leader refresher. Super warm and sunny (almost to hot) and lots of navigation, decision making, environmental knowledge and leadership issues covered. Good luck for your upcoming assessment Zak.

On the third and final day on Dartmoor today working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd on a Hill and Moorland Leader assessment it was drier and less windy and almost verging on being pleasant at times. Well done to those who passed and hope to see the others back soon to finish off the award.

A much drier but very windy day on Dartmoor today working for Wet and High Adventures Ltd on a Hill and Moorland Leader assessment with 6 candidates split between Mark and I. We swapped groups today and went to have a look at some of the devastation caused by last weeks fires. They covered a substantial area and there is significant damage to the grasses. The mosses and lichens however seemed to have survived. I would expect that quite a few ground nesting birds lost their nests. A proper late night as we had to stay out to await for darkness, finally getting back to the cars around 10:30pm
