Out at Haytor today working with a group from Hamp Estate in Bridgwater. Unfortunately rain stopped play by midday and we ran to the shelter of Dart Rock where it was warmer and drier. All 5 young people managed to climb and belay and learnt to put on their own harnesses and tie themselves in. At the end of the session they even had a little trip through the Dart Rock cave system.  "Stop licking my van" This weekend I have been based in Devon. Saturday I was working with Abbey School climbing at Haytor and then bouldering at Bonehill Rocks. Around this I was assessing a Bronze DofE Group in Torbay for Devon Studio School . Today was quite wet so the climbing group  and I went to Dart Rock  for a spot of indoor climbing and artificial caving. Then it was back to Torbay to meet the DofE group at the finish.

Today I headed down to Dartmoor with Gordon and his son Johnathon for some climbing tuition at Haytor. We started by looking at setting up a Top Rope on Step Across (Diff) and Bulging Wall (V.Diff) which Johnathon climbed. We then built some belays and placed gear around the crag and then he seconded me up Zig Zag (Diff) before leading it with me on a rope alongside. After 4 days climbing in a row the kit is hung up and it is now a couple of days of meetings and admin before next weekend's diving trip.
