Today I was out with my students for some climbing at Gomblin Combe. The first hour went well but then the rain started and we had to take some shelter. We managed about 3 hrs of climbing in between the showers and all the students had a go at all the routes.

Today I took a group of 5 from Somerset Divers out of Brixham for some Sit on Top action. We had a great paddle round to Elberry Cove in fantastic weather conditions (unlike the forecast). Well done to all for gaining the BCU 1 Star Award.

Today we stopped on the way home for a blast round the trail at Cwmcarn Forest. We spent a considerable time cycling up the hill beofre th real fun started and we rolled down the descents  in good style before arriving back at the cafe for coffee and cake. A good week had by all and we are all having a few days of rest before heading back to work on Monday

Today we headed over to North Pembroke for a Spot of Coasteering and Paddling in the Sun

Today we went climbing at Little Tor at Oxwich Bay. The weather today was stunning and we got some routes in before lunch and the afternoon was spent riding along the ridge above the bay

Staff Trip to The Gower - 9 Staff headed to Wales for October Half Term Today we headed out onto a wet and windy Rossilli beach for a walk and chat. The wind was fierce at times and we were all relived to make the cafe and get something to eat and drink. On the way back, all the tough outdoor instructors huddled inside their jackets whilst Mr Tait (Music Teacher) hit the waves for a swim in just his shorts. Full respect given by all othe staff as it was not exactly warm.

 Teaching Rolling Practising playboating skills On Tuesday I collected my new Playboat a Pyranha Varun from ASWatersports in Exeter and got into the pool this morning to try it out. I am pleased to say it is as good as I hoped and I can't wait to get out on the river (though I will have to wait a few weeks until I get some time off)

Today I took 7 students and 2 other staff of to Anstey's Cove in Torbay for some Coasteering. The group are part of a climbing group and therefore dealt with the climbing part of the coasteer well. The weather was good for us and we had a great time.

Today I was working at Cannington Activity Centre with 2 groups of students from Bridgwater College. We were using the Jacobs Ladder and All Aboard to challenge their teamwork and trust in each other as well as fear of heights for some of them.

I have been out on Dartmoor all weekend directing a WGL Training Course for 5 candidates. We had great weather (so had to go out at night to make things more interesting) over the weekend and everybody seemed to pick things up quickly.

Today I was out on the canal and in the docks with Bridgwater College students as part of their two star paddlesport course. This is the last week in kayaks as we will start again after half term in Open Canoe. Again we got away with some lovely weather despite the forecast.

Today I was out with Bridgwater College students at Gomblin Combe for a spot of climbing. With the help of Andy I set up 4 ropes and had students working in threes going up and down different routes whilst belaying each other. The weather held out and we had a good day.

Today we were back out on the Estury at Barrow in Furness navigating from charts and maps, leading, rolling, swimming, towing and generally being tested with different scenarios. This was the second and last day of the 4 Star Sea Assessment and I am pleased to report both I and my mate Olly passed. Thanks to Steve and Kate for a nice relaxed but testing assessment. I was in the water too much to take photos today.

Heading out Atlantic Grey Seals A plethera of kayaks  Kayak and Cat After a long drive up last night from Plymouth and spending the evening at a mates house, today we met up with 11 other paddlers and headed out from Barrow in Furness for a day paddling around the bottom of Walney Island. Todays conditions were interesting with some strong gusts and 1.5m waves which we had a play in. Tomorrows forcast is not quite so good with wind speed in excess of 40mph. Might have to plan carefully where we go tomorrow. This was day 1 of a 4 Star Sea Assessment
