December Coasteering

Image
Awesome day out at Bolt Head with Olly visiting a new Coasteering route. I had over dressed and was warm (too warm at times) in my 5mm suit with 2mm vest but better that than cold obviously. Seeing a grey seal catch a fish was great and although I felt like I had gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson after the caving yesterday, it was a relaxing day out in the unseasonably warm weather we are having. The 2km walk in and walk out (after a dodgy exit climb up) means it is unlikely we will take groups there but it was good fun all the same.

3 Star Sea in Cornwall

Image
Today I was down at St Austell with Dan who was going for his 3 Star Sea. Rich Uren was the assessor for the day and I had a nice paddle observing the assessment and being the body for a rescue. Conditions were good with some swell to play with and we saw a couple of seals whilst we were out and about. Well done Dan for  good pass.

Seals at Lundy

Image
Today I was diving at Lundy Island on Obsession II organised by Polar Bear Diving . The aim of the day was to dive with seals and I had plenty of seal time on both dives. I had a very close interaction with one particular seal so many thanks to Dave from Somerset Divers who managed to pull it off me. I think it was being friendly rather than aggressive but who knows. We also saw a very large Barrel Jellyfish from the boat.
