Me helping someone out of the water but not before the wave arrived on the difficult traverse section Making a splash Today I took 6 students from Bridgwater College and Max, another member of staff to Torbay for some Coasteering. Coasteering is the art of moving round the coast by way of swimming, climbing, jumping and using the waves to move you around. The sun was out for most of it and although the water was a bit chilly it was not unpleasantly so. We we in the water for a couple of hours before going for Fish and Chips on the sea front.

A group at Brompton Ralph Luc and I A lovely evening For the last two days I have been working for Bridgwater College with the usual students and they started out form Cannington yesterday morning and rode over The Quantocks to Wimbleball Lake where they swapped their bikes for sailing dinghys and sailed round the lake collecting tags that Luc and I had put out to exchange for camping equipment. A few non sailors stayed on their bikes and collected the tags on land. The weather was good for us on day 1 but turned nasty overnight and today was a miserable road ride back to Cannington as fast as possible to get into some dry gear.  

Colin joining in with the abseil Today I was working for Bridgwater College and took a group of BFD Public Service Students Rock Climbing at Goblin Combe. I was joined today by their tutor Colin who joined in with all the activities. We spent the morning climbing and after lunch in the sun moved on to spend the afternoon abseiling. All 10 students (and Colin) did really well and it was a pleasure working with them.

Wills Neck Trig Point Alex and I Alex Just as I thought the day was going to be another inside doing paperwork day (like yesterday was) Alex turned up at the door in the pouring rain suggesting we go out on the bikes. I jumped at the chance and we headed up to The Quantocks and rode a circuit from Lydeard Hill, up and over Wills Neck and down the single track stuff before heading back up towards the car. A short but well worth escape from the boring old admin. The rain actually stopped for the duration of our ride but there was a very brisk cold wind.

A moment when the cloud lifted (slightly) Max Me Blue Sky, Whooppe Today I took my usual students up to The Brecon Beacons to see if they could survive the wind and rain on Pen Y Fan. Conditions were not great but to be fair, they could have been a lot worse. Wind speed was around 35 - 40mph and it was very misty with some very hard rain at times. However during the day the weather improved and I ended up walking down under blue(ish) skies and with my clothes drying out in the wind. Today I was joined my Max, one of my colleagues at Bridgwater College who was keen to get out and about in the great outdoors.

It was very wet at times Today I was working with the same students as yesterday and we were up on The Quantock Hills for a spot of Off Road Riding. No mechanical issues today which was nice and a relatively short route so we could get back and plan activites for the next few weeks. Unfortuantely the weather broke today and the weeks of sun has been interupted by some pretty hard rain which saturated us all.

Today I was out with my usual students from Bridgwater College at Uphill Quarry near Weston Super Mare where we climbed a number of routes and the majority of the group completed a 20m abseil. The students set up most of the ropes themselves and they are getting fairly good at it now. Weather was great for us again but I am not sure we will make the rest of the week without any rain.
