Today I was working with Andy Holborn on a Climbing Wall Award assessment at The Barn Climbing Centre near Launceston. All 4 candidates put in a good performance and passed with flying colours.

MLTA Spring Meet
Today I have been working on the Mountain Leader Training Association Spring get together on Dartmoor. This is a bi annual event that I arrange for the South West members to meet and refresh their skills in ropework, navigation and anything else they ask for.
First Coasteer of the Season, Torbay
Whoopee, first one of the season. I really enjoy my job on days like this. I don't normally work for Bridgwater College on a Friday but today I took 5 students and their tutor off to Torbay for some Coasteering. The weather was great and the water warm. And of course we had ice creams after the session.
Quantock Hills Orienteering
Today was an easy day for me as I was assessing Level 4 students running an orienteering event for Level 2 students. The weather started of nicely but I was not impressed with the 5 minutes of rain we had whilst I was eating my sandwhiches.
Biking on The Quantock Hills
Back up on The Quantock Hills with Level 4 students today. Following the last few weeks training in off road riding and maintainence skills combined with navigation training they were let loose on the hills in two groups to plan and carry out their own biking journey. I am pleased to say they all made it back fit and well with no mechanical issues. I rode around in the sun checking up on them in various places.
Uphill Climbing in the Sun
Today I was back out with Level 4 students at Uphilll Quarry building on the skills we learnt last week. Today we looked at setting up ropes from above and concentrated on movement on the rock. The sun was beating down and it just got hotter and hotter as the day went on
Wolves in the New Forest
Yesterday I headed down to the New Forest very early in the mornng in time for an 8am breakfast with Haygrove School students out on their Silver D of E Expedition. A couple of days in the New Forest with fantastic weather (even though it rained hard last night). I also got time to pop into The New Forest Wildlife Park to see some Wolves, Wild Boar and Wallabies.
