A month in Borneo

For the next month I will be working for Camps International in Borneo and at 08:00 this morning I boarded a plane with 57 Students, 6 Staff and 2 other leaders to spend a month living in and around the jungle taking on both physical and community projects. There will be a full blog report on my return but if I get access to the internet I will post something mid way through the trip.

Biking in the Beacons

For the last few days I have been riding round Black Mountain and Brecon Beacons on my motorcycle whilst assessing two Gold D of E Groups from Plymouth College. I saw the groups once or twice a day and spent the rest of the time exploring the local roads. The weather has been great for us and the teams should enjoy there remaining days. I am now packing for my trip to Borneo as I am leaving this weekend

The weather was changeable with some very heavy showers at times but both students and staff had a great time.

Silver D of E North Wessex Downs

Saturday, Sunday and Today I have been working with Abbey School, Reading on the Silver D of E Assessment Expedition in the North Wessex Downs Area. I have never been so confused as to what county I am in as I was flitting between Berkshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire 3 or 4 times a day. Well done to all the teams who completed the expedition in a mini heatwave.

Hound Tor Climbing

The infamous lying down move on Pulpit Today on the 4th day of his course I took Andy to Houndtor and again we were joined by Dan. During the day Andy lead Paddy and Pulpit as well as doing some bouldering to improve movement and more belay construction work. For a bit of fun the guys both climbed Liars Dice on a Top Rope. This is a short but very steep Severe climb. The weather was kinder today with only the occasional shower.
