Winter Climbing

Image
Matt and Jamie wanted to have a go at leading some winter climbs, a late and snowy start saw us head into The Ciste Crag for a few pitches. It was not quite as frozen as I hoped but it was certainly snowy and wintry and served its purpose for the day. If you are looking to employ someone to teach winter climbing then you should be looking  here  for an MIC holder as that is the appropriate award.

A quick blast in Corie an T'Sneachda

Today was not a work day but Matt and Jamie volunteered to let me practice on them in preparation for MIC assessment (next year I reckon). With a forecast for being very blowy later, we headed into Corie an T'Sneachda and climbed 5 pitches on the Twin Ribs before a quick descent and getting blown out of the corie back to the car park. If you are looking to employ someone to teach winter climbing then you should be looking here  for an MIC holder as that is the appropriate award.

Winter Skills Day 2

Image
Back out in much calmer conditions today working for Wet and High Adventures running the second day of a winter skills course. Today we looked at navigation, shelters and safe travel. We completed a circuit of the northern corries. We got a few short views at the top before dropping into Corie Domhain for some shelter and food. Then it was the standard 1141 descent along with quite a few other people.

I was back out today for the second day of the Lowland Leader Training Course that I am directing for Wet and High Adventures . We were on The Quantock Hills today for some forest time. We were a little unlucky with the weather and got rained on for the last hour or so but it is all part of the experience.
