XT660Z Maiden Voyage

I finally got to take my rebuilt XT660Z Tenere off road today with a Trail Ride from Sweet Lamb. Nearly 100miles of gravel tracks and single track mud in the forest. The bike lay down for a rest a couple of times :-) but was soon back on its feet.

Having only ridden 20miles since having it back on the road, today was a test of both my riding skills and the last few months worth of spannering skills. The bike held up mechanically so that was good and the only damage so far is a broken indicator (£15 on ebay) so hopefully nothing extra tomorrow.

Today's boating session was delayed by a few hours until the temperature rose above zero then it was a case of powering through the now thin layer of ice to have a trip down the canal. The swans had managed to keep a 3m area of canal open by swimming about all night but seem very happy that we open up a lot more of the canal for them. A mix of Tandem and Solo skills demonstrated today from the Outdoor Students.

Back on the Beach

Today it was back to Whitsand for some more beach lifeguard training with my usual students. The sun was shining and the water was warm. Even Daisy had a go with a rescue tube.
